Fire hose reels are used to fight type A fires, such as those involving wood, paper, and cloth. They provide a continuous and controllable supply of water to a fire. Fire hose reels should be strategically located within a building so that occupants can access them from any part of the premises. They should ideally be placed within 4m of an exit. The maximum allowable hose length is 36m, with a 4m spray range from the nozzle.
